We Recovered a Forgotten iPad from Antalya Airport and Shipped It to Germany

Today's Ana Kurye story is about an iPad forgotten at Antalya Airport and how we successfully recovered it from the Antalya Airport Lost and Found process before shipping it back to its owner in Munich, Germany.

Our customer contacted us from Germany after leaving an iPad Pro 13-inch, 2024 model on a Pegasus Airlines flight. Fortunately, the device had already been found and registered with a Lost and Found reference number.

Because the iPad had been left on the aircraft, the case was not handled like a regular airport counter item. It was managed through the relevant ground handling Lost and Found department serving Pegasus Airlines, so the first job was to identify the right department and confirm the collection procedure.

A lost airport item is not only about pickup. It often requires the right department, authorization, patient follow-up, careful packaging and the correct international shipping documents.

Antalya Airport Lost and Found authorization process

Since the owner was already back in Germany, returning to Turkiye just to collect the iPad would have been difficult and expensive. Ana Kurye arranged the lost property authorization process so that we could collect the forgotten iPad on the owner's behalf.

We provided the customer with the required authorization wording, asked them to complete and sign the document, attach a copy of their passport and send the documents to the relevant Antalya Airport Lost and Found office. We also asked the customer to copy Ana Kurye's corporate email address into the correspondence so we could follow the process directly.

At first, there was no response from the Lost and Found department. Instead of simply waiting for an email reply, we continued following up through different communication channels and contacted the department regarding the collection authorization. Ana Kurye prepared the DHL shipping documents, proforma invoice, shipping labels, protective packaging and customs declaration information. Because international shipments require a declared value, we also discussed the appropriate second-hand value of the device with the customer.

A value of EUR 800 was declared for the used iPad. We clearly stated on the shipping documents that this was not a commercial sale or a newly purchased product. The shipment was described as "Used personal item - returned to owner" so the purpose of the shipment was clear.

The iPad was successfully delivered in Munich

After all documentation and packaging were completed, the parcel was handed over to DHL for international delivery. A few days later, we received the good news: the iPad was successfully delivered to its owner in Munich, Germany.
